Bobcat
The bobcat (or wildcat) is featured in native American mythologies, often paired or contrasted with the coyote. As with the puma, bobcats are associated with strong hunters. European settlers also admired it's ferocity and grace and so it is prominent in the national folklore of the United States. Though they have been extensively hunted, Bobcats are resilient and their population remains large and wide ranging.
